LED stands for Light-Emitting Diode. LED televisions offer dominant technology in the 2012 models and beyond. While they now are more expensive than most types, the prices have dropped and are getting more competitive compared to LCD or Plasma. They offer excellent blacks, improved energy efficiency, better contrast ratio and are much thinner.
